Features

As the pace of new technology development increases, the time between new data format introductions continues to shrink. Additionally, there is an extremely large variety of legacy formats that must be accessed to get at critical data. The end result is that an IT operation often needs the services of a third-party provider to convert data to more user-friendly, efficient operating software or migrate data from older media onto newer, higher-capacity media utilized in advanced technology systems such as LTO or SDLT.

Additionally, corporations are being required to comply with an increasing number of regulations that require them to provide more frequent access to legacy data archives. Therefore, the need to renew and refresh archival data will become more critical in the future.

Fujifilm’s Conversion, Migration and Duplicating Services are structured to offer you an extensive array of cost effective solutions for legacy data conversion.

  • Data Conversion
    • Move your data from one operating system onto another. For example, a mainframe system to a mini or PC-based system. This typically means going from EBCDIC to ASCII format with DOS or UNIX as the base language for the operating systems of both the PCs and Mainframes.
  • Data Migration
    • Move your information from one media onto a new or different media when you no longer support or have access to a particular type of tape transport device. This would also include media that may be acquired through trades, purchases, acquisitions or mergers.
    • Media migration procedures involve creating a bit-for-bit or exact copy from one media to a similar or different media in the same format without any analysis or editing. By copying your information onto a different media, data migration helps maintain your digital information in prime condition for an indefinite period of time.
